Van Mahotsav Celebration

Van Mahotsav, a week long festival of tree planting is organized every year in the first week of July across India when millions of trees are planted. This movement was initiated in the year 1950 by India@aps@s Union Minister for Agriculture, Kulapati Dr. K M Munshi. The celebration of Van Mahotsav Week at OEES was an ideal opportunity to instill personal and social responsibility in our students towards safeguarding trees and forests. The focus of these celebrations is towards forming a personal connect between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation. To celebrate the Festival of trees called Van Mahotsav students of OEES participated in various activities conducted in a weeklong event. Activity 1 � Inter Section Go as you like for classes I & II - Students came up like trees. They introduce themselves with their beautiful and interesting facts. Activity 2 � Inter Section presentation on facts on trees for classes IV & V � To promote environmental awareness Students had made PowerPoint presentation on interesting facts on trees to participate in the competition on this occasion. All the students had depicted different ideas on various aspects of plant life. Overall this activity was very informative. Activity 3 � Inter Class role play on importance of trees & effect of deforestation on living organism for classes IV & V � It was held in the school premises on the mentioned topic. Students participated enthusiastically and with great zeal. They showed thinking and feelings through the essay skilfully. Activity 4 � Inter section Group Song Competition for classes VI & VII � The selected students of mentioned classes are participated in this competition. All the songs they sang are related Van Mahotsav theme. Through this competition they showed their talent as well as they given some messages to our society to create awareness about forestation. Van Mahotsav week came up to be a great success. The event helped to bring awareness about the green cover around us. It also helped in strengthening the bond between plants and human. Students got to learn a lot and will always cherish the memories of this important occasion.
